St. Patrick’s Day Dance

The members of the Pipes and Drums of the NYPD Emerald Society would like to thank Bandmaster Kevin McDonough and the Board of Officers, as well as dance chairman John M. Sullivan and his committee on another successful Saint Patrick’s Day Dance. The Band would also like to thank all who attended, our faithful supporters. We appreciate your loyalty and enthusiasm.

Congratulations to our first ever “Woman of the Year,” Deputy Commissioner of Administration Cathleen S. Perez. We are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding woman in the NYPD.

Our “Sergeant John Tansey Award” recipient was Ret. Sergeant Robert Ganley, Vice President SBA. Robert has been a member of the band since 1999 and has provided limitless support for which we will always be grateful.  Please click the “Read More” to view photos from Dance.

Manhattan North Narcotics Chasing the Kilo Fairy

NYPD Pipes and Drums are Proud to say that we have yet another author in the Band. Written by our very own Jake McNicholas a 25 + year NYPD Pipe Band Member. Manhattan North Narcotics Chasing the Kilo Fairy. Jake McNicholas is a former member of the NYPD, where he served for twenty-three years, retiring in 2007 as a First Grade Detective with the Terrorist Interdiction Unit of the Intelligence Division. Many of his years with the NYPD were spent in Manhattan North Narcotics. The events of 9/11 left an indelible impression upon the man, as did his entire career as a member of New York’s Finest. He is currently working with the US Attorney’s Office. He has been a member of the NYPD Emerald Society Pipe Band since 1991.

NYPD Detective Steven McDonald

The members of the New York City Police Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums wish to offer their heartfelt condolences to the Family of Detective Steven McDonald as well as the entire Law Enforcement Community. Steven has gone home to be with God and we will miss him. He is survived by his wife Patti Ann and son Conor.

At around 3 p.m. November 4 2016, a man forced himself into a woman’s apartment on Noble Ave. in the Bronx. Two Sergeants were close by and responded to the home invasion.
