The members of the New York City Police Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums wish to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family of NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen Killed in the LOD.
Tuesday February 12 at around 6:10 p.m. after receiving a 911 call stating that a man has taken two employees to a back room at gunpoint in a T-Mobile store Det. Simonsen and Sgt. Gorman, both in plainclothes responded to above call where the perpetrator exited the back of the store with a weapon in hand which was later determined to be a fake handgun. Upon exiting the back of the store the perpetrator simulated pulling the trigger while trying to flee the store. Detective Simonsen was struck once in the chest succumbing to his wound, his partner Sgt. Gorman was shot once in the leg and is in stable condition.
